GLENCOE FAIR AMBASSADOR'S MESSAGE

I have had the honour of representing the Glencoe Agricultural Society for this past year and it has been the experience of a lifetime. Throughout my year, I participated in a great deal of events such as the Red Brand Show and Sale in Glencoe, a variety of Fairboard meetings, our local district meeting, the OAAS Convention, the Santa Claus parade, Diamonds and Denim, elementary school visits and lastly, the Canadian National Exhibition Ambassador of the Fairs Competition. I have learned a great deal about our Agricultural Society and our town, as well as myself as I participated in these events. The OAAS Convention and the CNE were amazing and unforgettable experiences, especially because of the new friends I have made from these events and all of the things I learned that have already become very useful in everyday life. It is amazing to meet people whom you have never heard of or who live a fair distance from you, and realize all the connections you have with these strangers. Many of the fair ambassadors I have met in the past year have become close friends and this is something that I know I will be able to keep with me as I pass on my title as Glencoe Fair Ambassador.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Fairboard and everyone involved with the Ambassador Program. At different events I attended, I realized the difference between myself and other ambassadors because of how respected our Fairboard and our small town fair is. A great deal of people put so much effort into our fair and our Ambassador competition each year and I would also like to thank our community of Glencoe and all of our local businesses because of the great support they provide this program; it would not be possible without them.

I wish the best of luck to all ambassador contestants for the upcoming year and especially my successor in their year to come. You will meet many new people, hopefully making life-long friends and develop many skills that you will use for the rest of your life. Representing the Glencoe Agricultural Society as the Glencoe Fair Ambassador is a huge honour so take advantage of every opportunity you get because it is a once in a lifetime chance you will never forget. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful opportunity you have provided me with. I am honoured and proud to have represented our town and this has been a year I will always remember.

2009-10 Glencoe Fair Ambassador Jenna Zwambag

Ambassador of the Fairs Competition

GLENCOE FAIR AMBASSADOR IS FINALIST AT 2010 CNE

The 2010 Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) Ambassador of the Fairs Competition took place this past weekend in Toronto.  Jenna Zwambag, Glencoe Fair Ambassador, attended the competition with a flawless performance and was a top semi-finalist amongst 70 other Ambassadors from across the province.  Sarah Campbell from Glencoe, represented Western Fair and was also named as a semi-finalist.  The top semi-finalists were Rodney-Aldborough Agricultural Society, Milverton Fair, Western Fair, Embro and Zorra Fair, Glencoe Fair, Harriston-Minto Fair and Sutton Agricultural Society.  Following 1.5 minute speeches on agriculture of fall fairs, three finalists were chosen to answer an impromptu question.  Harriston-Minto and Sutton were selected as 1st and 2nd Runners-Up, respectively.  The Sutton Fair Ambassador was also voted as Most Congenial by her peers.  The title of the 2010 CNE Ambassador of the Fairs was awarded to Milverton Fair.  Several members of the Glencoe area, including members of the Glencoe Agricultural Society attended the competition on Sunday, August 22, 2010 to support Zwambag and Campbell.
