The Glencoe Agricultural Society owns and maintains two buildings that are very important parts of the fairground complex – the agricultural hall and the curling arena, and these buildings are major hubs of our community. This year we had to replace the two furnaces in the agricultural hall to the tune of approximately $100,000.00. Even though we were facing financial struggles the same as every other organization, this was a renovation that we couldn’t afford NOT to do. If we did not replace the furnaces, we would have had to close the buildings down. This hall is used for weddings, funeral receptions, stag and does, election voting stations, fundraisers for other local non-profit organizations, etc. Basically it is a community centre, and if we had to close it, it would mean a major facility would no longer be available for the residents of Southwest Middlesex and area . We are now in the process of fundraising to pay off these furnaces. We have had some donations from local citizens, businesses and service clubs including Gerber Electric, the Rotary Club, Glencoe Firefighters Association and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion.
These donations have been a great help, but we still have more work to do.
Every little bit helps!
